Our society was started in September 2007 and attracts its membership from all over North Wales including Anglesey and the Llyn Peninsula. Meetings are held in Llandudno because of its good transport links and facilities. We now have well over 100 members of all ages. To read a first-hand account of how our Society came to be formed, please read the “Birth of a New Society” article in the Documents page of this dropdown section. It was written by Jan Trickett, Llandudno’s inaugural Chairman.
We are a member society of The Arts Society (TAS) which was formed in 1968 with the twin aims of arts education and heritage conservation. Since then, The Arts Society (formerly known as NADFAS) has grown to have over 90,000 members and nearly 400 local societies in the UK and abroad. You can find out more from The Arts Society website.
We implement TAS’s ethos by offering an annual programme of very high-quality illustrated lectures which cover a wide range of decorative and fine arts topics.
Lecturers are mainly from leading museums and galleries and some are familiar faces on BBC arts and antiques programmes. Each lecturer has been stringently vetted by The Arts Society to ensure that their knowledge and love of their subject is second to none and that they have excellent presentation skills.
Our lecture programme is supported by Study Days and Visits to museums, galleries and historic houses and cities. We also hope to organise cultural holidays both in the UK and abroad.
By clicking here “Lectures”, “Study Days” and “Visits” or by using the above links to our current pages, you will discover what you can expect when you join us.
We also support Young Arts to give young people in North Wales a fantastic introduction to the arts.
We have a small dedicated committee, led by our Chairperson Jacqueline Doll, which works hard to ensure that all aspects of our society run smoothly. You can get in touch with us by using the “Contact Us” links or, of course, at our meetings.
We are always looking for help and people with new ideas to allow us to do more. If you would like to help there are plenty of opportunities to do so, just come and talk to one of the committee at a meeting.
Why not join us and help shape our society’s future?
